Accompanying families out of extreme poverty, one household at a time
Lovebridge works with families living in extreme poverty in Mauritius through long-term, household-by-household accompaniment. Rather than delivering a single service, it places a trained mentor alongside each family for several years and works across every dimension at once — income, housing, health, schooling, administrative documents and family relationships — because these tend to fail together and cannot be fixed one at a time.
The model is deliberately intensive and deliberately measured: each accompanied family has a documented plan with its own milestones, and progress out of poverty is tracked against them. The organisation works closely with corporate partners funding the accompaniment of specific cohorts of families.

We are looking for two more corporate partners to fund cohort places for 2027. What that involves in practice: a three-year commitment per household, quarterly reporting against the family plans you are funding, and — if you want it — the chance for your staff to meet the mentors doing the work.

The 2026 cohort is fully enrolled: sixty households, matched with mentors, first plans written. The most common first milestone this year — as it is most years — is a birth certificate or a national identity card, without which nothing else in the plan can legally happen.
From the 2023 cohort now finishing: 71 per cent of households have a stable income source, against 22 per cent at entry. The full report will be published next quarter.
