Rs 14,000 covers a full course of transport to and from treatment for one patient.

A course of radiotherapy can mean twenty-five journeys to hospital. For a household without a car and without savings, that alone is enough to make a patient miss sessions — and an interrupted course is a worse outcome than a delayed start.
This fund covers two things: door-to-door transport to and from treatment for patients who cannot otherwise get there, and a hardship fund for the costs that surround treatment — nutrition, medication not covered publicly, and the household bills of someone who has had to stop working.
Referrals come from hospital social workers and from our own support groups.

Eighty-two patients used the transport service this quarter, across 940 individual journeys. Not one of them missed a scheduled session for transport reasons, which is the only metric this project has.
Two of our four vehicles are past 200,000 km and the maintenance is becoming the second-largest line in the budget.
