About this project

Unemployment among people with disabilities in Mauritius is not principally a skills problem, but skills are the part we can address directly — and the part employers point at when explaining why they did not hire.

This programme runs six months of digital skills training in a fully accessible setting: office and productivity software, data handling, customer support tooling, and the assistive technology each participant needs to use them. It ends with supported placement, and with the employer-side work that decides whether a placement becomes a job — accessibility audits, manager briefings, and follow-up for six months after the start date.

Thirty-five places per cohort, two cohorts per year.

Updates

Nineteen of the thirty-two participants from the last cohort are in work six months after placement. That is the highest we have recorded, and the difference is almost entirely on the employer side — the four companies that took the accessibility audit seriously account for most of the retained placements.

Applications for the March cohort open next week.
