Wheelchairs, prosthetics, hearing aids and mobility aids — fitted, adjusted and maintained, for people for whom the device is the difference between a life and a room.
Rs 34,000 provides one fitted wheelchair, including training and two years of adjustment.

An assistive device that is donated but not fitted is often worse than none at all: a wheelchair of the wrong dimensions causes pressure injuries, and an unadjusted prosthetic ends up in a cupboard. This fund pays for the whole chain — assessment, the device itself, fitting, training in its use, and the maintenance and adjustment that keep it usable for years rather than months.
Referrals come through hospitals, schools and our own rehabilitation service. Priority goes to children, whose devices must be replaced as they grow, and to working-age adults for whom mobility is what makes employment possible.

Thirty-eight devices fitted this quarter: 14 wheelchairs, 9 hearing aids, 7 prosthetic limbs and 8 mobility aids. Every one of them was assessed and fitted rather than handed over, and all 38 recipients are booked for their six-month adjustment.
The children’s wheelchair waiting list is the pressure point — a growing child needs a new chair roughly every eighteen months and the fund is not currently sized for that.
