Roof, sanitation and structural repairs for eighty households living in unsafe conditions, prioritised by regional centres that already know the families.

A leaking roof is not a housing statistic to the family under it — it is damp walls, a child who is ill every winter, and possessions that cannot be kept. This fund pays for the repairs that make an existing home safe: roofing, water and sanitation connections, electrical safety, and structural work where a wall or floor has failed.
Cases come through the regional centres rather than an application form, because the centres already know which households are in difficulty and which have simply stopped asking. Work is done by local contractors, and each household contributes what it can, including labour.

Twenty-two households completed this quarter — fourteen roof repairs, five sanitary blocks and three structural jobs. Two of the roof cases had been on the regional centre’s list for over a year waiting on funding.
The waiting list currently stands at 63 households. We are prioritising the cases with young children or an elderly resident.
